I have held a long term interest in melanocytic gene regulation having completed a PhD under the supervision of AProf Richard Sturm in 2001, investigating the role of the BRN2 transcription factor in melanoma cell function. Currently my laboratory is focussed on understanding the role of a range of signalling and transcription factor networks that underpin various aspects of melanocyte activity from the co-ordination of pigmentation and the UV response, to nevogenesis and melanoma cell metabolism and metastasis.
